This year, the annual ISE event will take place in Barcelona from Tuesday, May 10 to Friday, May 13. During those days, you can enjoy numerous conferences, interesting guest speakers, instructive seminars, artistic showcases, keynotes, challenges and much more. Themes that will be extensively discussed include data optimisation and automation, artificial intelligence, digital signage, etc.

The role of digital signage at the ISE fair?

Digital signage has been a growing trend in recent years. Companies are increasingly choosing to use digital signage to enhance the in-store customer experience. Non-governmental organisations are also increasingly opting for digital signage for practical reasons. The latest trends in digital signage will be communicated by a number of experienced guest speakers in that field. Topics that are on the agenda are green signage, consolidation in the sector, best practices; and the latest technology trends. In addition, this will be brought visually more than ever! A great opportunity to demonstrate brilliant technology in an artistic setting. The scoop of the year is the digital signage boulevard. This showcase focuses on retail experiences and solutions. In addition to the latest in digital signage displays, visitors will find automated checkout solutions, sensors and retail analytics systems to engage shoppers, and the latest tools to increase sales and create an unforgettable shopping experience.

The smart building conference

Bob Snyder is no stranger to chairing this conference. As editor-in-chief of Channel Media Europe, he is here to explain the latest developments in data and smart technology, bearing in mind that the Covid-19 pandemic is trying to spoil things. Maybe, beyond all the negative, the Covid-19 pandemic was also an interesting asset for companies?

Make the smart choice

The smart building conference will reflect on the impact of the pandemic on the social and economic system. The emphasis will be on the smart technology that companies/organisations need in their buildings. According to Bob Snyder, this is an essential breakthrough in today's society. On 9 May, he will talk about the following topical subjects:

  • Automation

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Cyber security

Originally produced by ISE, the smart building conference is far above the rest in terms of smart buildings. The Internet of Things and access control were previously on the list at ISE. With the Covid-19 pandemic, this year is the time to add an extra dimension with developments on the use of intelligence in buildings.

According to Snyder, the subject is derived from the impact of the pandemic. The companies that were already committed to refining their technology within the corporate walls did remarkably better during the pandemic, counting lockdowns and reopenings. Automation and remote control helped some building owners, landlords and tenants survive the lockdowns. At the same time, the Internet of Things, access control and sensors were beneficial in reopening branches. An additional concern is air quality standards as smarter office buildings rise. Climate change is pushing energy control further into the extreme.

Security concerns

Attendees at the SBC can expect several discussions about the shift away from individual silo systems that are increasingly seen in new buildings today. A trend with serious security implications if monitoring is weak. It is therefore important to have a common IT backbone so that you only have to secure one network. This avoids a web of countless operational technology and IT networks. These vulnerabilities are an important topic for the SBC congress.

Data analytics and AI are the discussed topics for the coming years and will therefore also be part of the programme. Additional attention will be paid to the increasing integration of AI with building systems and IoT devices. With emphasis on the potential to optimise experiences, operational efficiency and perfect space and use. According to Snyder, AI is a foundation that enables converged integrated building solutions and creates connectedness.

Snyder places himself in the speaker programme, where attendees will hear about the latest trends and tools on the vision. The audience is known to be interactive and prefer an energetic atmosphere where they can make their own contribution. The combination of input, vision, open participation and networking provide interesting insights for the delegates.

The event is common for everyone who is part of today's society. Even if you don't have a business purpose, you can pick up interesting information on how the discussed business interests will be developed in the future. It is only fair to discover how technologies can come together and be used to their advantage.
